A Closer Look at The Precincts of Sydney’s CBD

We all know that when it comes to work and play, Sydney’s CBD has all the bases covered. With restaurants, entertainment and transport all on your doorstep, it’s easy to see why more Australians are making the shift towards a sky home in the city.

For those interested in entering the apartment scene, discover the various ‘precincts’ that exist in our beautiful city. Just as London and New York have developed their own boroughs, Sydney City has too developed areas of distinction for residents, each offering unique amenities and lifestyles.

From the shores of Walsh Bay to the bustle of China Town, one area of the CBD can be quite different to another. We explore three of these popular residential precincts, Hyde Park, Circular Quay and Darling Quarter. Read on and you might just find your future home here.

Hyde Park

With stunning views and proximity to both the city centre and large green open spaces, Sydney’s Hyde Park precinct is home to some of Sydney’s most sought-after addresses. Depending on the location and orientation of your property, views of St Mary’s Cathedral, the Domain and part of Sydney Harbour are available. The past five years has seen the area expand and develop rapidly, its popularity skyrocketing as a result. Its exceptional location means the city and transport are all well within your reach. China Town, Darlinghurst and buzzing Surry Hills are not too far away either meaning the choice of on trend and delicious restaurants and cafes is abundant (and without need for an Uber). Not to be ignored is the draw card of Hyde Park itself! Just north of this 40-acre park is the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Domain. Developers have recognised its growing potential and we are interested to see what new developments receive the green light for construction in the upcoming years.

Circular Quay

Circular Quay is a thriving community for tourism, travel, arts and business. Situated between the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, this is one of Australia’s most noteworthy historical and cultural precincts, home to some of Sydney’s most iconic addresses. It’s a key transport interchange, a major contributor to Sydney’s economy and a huge selling point for our tourism industry.

Circular Quay residents are not only privy to the iconic Harbour view but also they have direct access to the Royal Botanical Gardens, a wonderful spot to exercise or just relax. The precinct is also home to some of the country’s top fine dining restaurants, including Quay, Bennelong and Aria so if fine dining is high on your list of priorities then this area is just for you.  In recent years the laneways of Circular Quay have also become more vibrant, with several trendy underground venues opening – we recommend adding Hubert, Mary’s Underground and Bistecca to your list. If that’s not enough for you, duck into one of the many rooftop bars for a cold beverage and enjoy the stunning city or harbour vistas.

Darling Quarter

In the heart of Sydney’s southern quarter and surrounded by natural beauty you will find Darling Quarter. This scenic area has stunning views and a wide range of entertainment options. The whole community has at their disposal a large variety of eateries, art displays, exhibitions and activities. So, make sure to join the yoga classes or ping-pong matches depending on what excites you more! Popular with the kids is the impressive children’s playground, equipped with Octanet. A bonus is the pop-up markets that are hosted various times throughout the year. Accessible via train, bus, ferry, lightrail and car, getting to and from Darling Quarter is easy to do. This precinct attracts millions of visitors every year thanks to its family friendly atmosphere, abundance of free entertainment experiences and lively spaces like the Village Green so there will always be activity in this precinct.

With only a short stroll to both China Town and Pyrmont village, residents can enjoy an eclectic mix of cultures whilst having on-the-doorstep conveniences, all within a short walk from home.
