If you are looking for the perfect day out in Sydney or perhaps to get to know the different precincts our beautiful city has to offer, you’ve come to the right place.

As real estate agents who specialise in selling and leasing property in Sydney city, we know these neighbourhoods inside out. From the best place to grab brekky, to an evening cocktail, to the history and the culture, we can help point you in the right direction to get the most out of an area.

Over the coming weeks we're going to be getting you acquainted with our beautiful harbour city. We’ll start in The Rocks precinct, an area which connects the harbour foreshore to historic Millers Point and Walsh Bay. Come with us as we walk you through a perfect day in Sydney.

The Itinerary

9am: Get started with coffee and a pastry at La Renaissance Patisserie and Café.

Soon to celebrate 30 years in the precinct ‘La Ren’ is the perfect jumping off point for your adventures today. We highly recommend their Pain Au Chocolat, paired with a coffee in the quaint courtyard.

La Renaissance Patisserie and Café - 47 Argyle Street, The Rocks

9.30am to 10.30am: Make your way through The Rocks towards Dawes Point

A great place to discover the rich history of the area is The Rocks Discovery Museum on Kendall Lane. A small, free museum set in a restored 1850s sandstone warehouse, home to some unique archaeological artefacts. From the traditional custodians to the establishment of the English Colony and the whalers, sailors and traders that made the precinct their homes, you’ll find all this and more at the museum.

10.30am to 11.30am: Meander The Rocks Markets and bask in the glory of Sydney Harbour Bridge up close and personal

Every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, the streets come alive with unique stalls in a stunning harbourside setting. Make your way up George Street and Playfair Street to explore the array of local artisanal wares, art, fashion, accessories, and street food.

Head to Hickson Road enjoying the harbour walk around to Walsh Bay under the Harbour Bridge and take in the glory of the wharfs.

12pm: Enjoy a waterfront lunch at Ventuno

There are few better spots in the area than waterfront Italian Pizzeria, Birreria and Enoteca Ventuno. You can’t go wrong with a view like this, a pizza, and a delicious glass of wine. We recommend booking ahead to lock in your table as this spot is popular with locals and Sydneysiders alike.

Ventuno – 7/21 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay

1.30pm and 3.30pm: Catch a matinee show at the Roslyn Packer Theatre

After the 1980s the Walsh Bay precinct became a hub for culture and theatre with the Sydney Theatre Company and Sydney Dance Company setting up their new homes here. Over the years the piers have been host to a number of notable events such as the Sydney Writers’ Festival and the Biennale of Sydney. No visit to this area would be complete without taking in one of the shows on offer. Again, book ahead as shows fill up quickly and most often sell out well in advance.

3.30pm – 4.30pm: Grab a beer at the oldest hotel in Sydney

The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel was established in 1841 making it Sydney’s oldest continually licensed hotel. This is the perfect watering hole to grab a drink and rest your tired feet after exploring the unique hidden lane ways and heritage terraces of Millers Point.

The charm of Millers Point is truly undeniable, it’s easy to see how you could fall in love with living here. Unsurprisingly it appeals to those seeking culture, history, and fine dining but also a tight knit residential community.

Locals enjoy the conveniences of living in the heart of the city plus easy access to the CBD and arterial roads. Despite the closeness to the CBD the charm is still retained because of the rich history of the area. Millers Point certainly has more of a residential suburban feel that you might find in other city precincts, likening it to London’s Chelsea or New York’s Greenwich Village, rather than the buzzing city centre.
