From 1 July 2026, Ayre Real Estate is required to comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) as a Designated Non-Financial Business or Profession. This page explains why we ask for identification and other information, and how we handle it.
AML/CTF laws help prevent criminal activity such as money laundering, terrorism financing, fraud, tax evasion and the concealment of illegally obtained funds through property transactions. Real estate businesses that provide certain regulated ("designated") services and supervised by AUSTRAC and must meet obligations set out in the Act.
Both the buyer and the seller are considered customers under the AML/CTF Act, and we're required to complete customer due diligence on each before providing certain services, including where we already have an existing relationship with a client. This applies to sales, off-the-plan transactions and auctions alike.

Some customers and transactions require a more detailed level of verification under AML/CTF law - for example, foreign nationals or non-residents, politically exposed persons, complex corporate or trust ownership structures, or transactions connected to higher-risk jurisdictions. Where this applies, we'll explain what's required and support you through it.
