With a stunning city skyline and an equally breathtaking harbour, it comes as no surprise that us Sydneysiders love a good rooftop bar. If you’re on the hunt for some drinks with a view, we are happy to report that you won’t have any problems finding one – or even a dozen – prime spots! As it stands, you might actually struggle with being too spoilt for choice! In which case, we’ve got you covered.
Here are our five favourite spots to sip on a cocktail while admiring our beautiful CBD.
Recognised as the crown jewel of Hotel Palisade, Henry Deane has breathtaking panoramic views of the entire harbour. They may boast an impressive selection of cocktails, wine and beers, but if you’re in the mood to nibble (or feast), then be sure to check out their menu too. Nab a prime seat by the windows, settle into some drinks and enjoy that sunset.
For a rooftop experience that is (arguably) Sydney’s best, the iconic Opera Bar is absolutely unmissable. Seated atop the Sydney Opera House carpark, you’ll be treated to live music several days of the week. While views are the major drawcard, don’t overlook their impressive menu, which runs till late. If you’re an early riser you can also catch a great weekend breakfast, all while soaking up the sunlight harbourside.
Are you looking for a Sydney classic? Then Blu Bar on 36 is hard to beat. With elegant interiors, well-crafted cocktails and service second to none, the Shangri-La Hotel’s rooftop bar attracts locals and tourists alike. This spot’s icon status is in no small part thanks to its front row view of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. But remember, after 5pm there is a strict dress code so be sure to check their website before turning up.
If it’s unforgettable cocktails you’re after, then the glitzy Zeta Bar is the place for you. As part of the Hilton, it goes without saying that you’d better dress to impress before stepping foot inside this inner-city bar. Popular for exceptional mixed drinks, this is a favourite of the after-work crew. The drinks list is extensive, but don’t pass up on trying their antipasto. Make it an evening to remember; book a private booth, order some drinks and bask in the beautiful views of the Queen Victoria Building and Sydney Tower up close.
Barangaroo House's sleek Smoke is renowned for bringing in Sydney’s most stylish crowds. With an eclectic and adventurous cocktail selection, you might find yourself sipping on a lavender Negroni while soaking up the uninterrupted harbourside views. Having only opened in 2018 to glowing reviews, if you haven’t checked it out yet, what are you waiting for?
